AFFL 985 Advanced Clinical Surgery—St. Catherine Hospital, Garden City, Kansas (4). The student serves as an intern on a team with Dr. Miller and Dr. Arroyo and two surgical residents in a private community hospital. The student participates in the care of surgical patients and in teaching conferences. Evaluation is based upon student participation, the quality of patient work-ups and the student's extent of knowledge as judged from performance at bedside rounds. Offered in Modules I-XII. Prerequisite: SURG 900. FLD

AFFL 986 Research and Clinical Surgery—St. Catherine Hospital, Garden City, Kansas (4). Student will undertake a clinical research study under the direction of Dr. Miller in a private community hospital. The student may choose the particular topic from a list of possible topics. Much latitude for individual initiative is provided. The student will also participate in all teaching conferences. Evaluation will be based upon student performance in dealing with this research topic. Offered in modules I-XII. Prerequisite: SURG 900. IND
