Wichita Postgraduate Training Programs
The KU School of Medicine Program — Wichita sponsors 12 residency programs. They are administered by the Wichita Center for Graduate Medical Education. WCGME is a not-for-profit consortium consisting of the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Via Christi Medical Center, Wesley Medical Center, and the University of Kansas. WCGME employs the residents, providing a competitive salary range and fringe benefit package.
ANSL 10 Resident in Anesthesiology (0). Four-year program preparing candidates for examination by the American Board of Anesthesiology. Prerequisite: One year of clinical residency training—i.e. Transitional Year, Preliminary Internal Medicine year, etc. CLN
FCMD 10 Resident in Family Practice (0). This three-year program prepares candidates for examination by the American Board of Family Practice. KUSM-W sponsors three separately accredited programs at the following locations: Via Christi Regional Medical Center in Wichita, Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, and Salina Regional Health Center in Salina, Kansas. INMD 10 Resident in Internal Medicine (0). Three-year program preparing candidates for examination by the American Board of Internal Medicine. CLN
INMD 35 Fellow with M.D. Degree (0). Fellowship from one to three years available to candidates who have completed the internship and at least one year of residency. Arrangements for fellowships may be made through the departmental chair. CLN
INMD 36 Fellow without M.D. Degree (0). One- to three-year program upon completion of which the individual is issued a certificate of completion of fellowship. CLN
OBGN 10 Resident in Obstetrics and Gynecology (0). Four-year program preparing candidates for examination by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology. CLN
PDRC 20 Medicine-Pediatrics Resident (0). A four year program in which the individual spends 6 months in Pediatrics and 6 months in Medicine for the first 2 years. Upon completion a certificate is issued. CLN
PDRC 22 Resident in Pediatrics (0). Three-year program preparing candidates for examination by the American Board of Pediatrics. CLN
PSCR 25 Resident in Psychiatry (0). Four-year program preparing candidates for examination by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. CLN
RAD 25 Resident in Diagnostic Radiology (0). Four-year program preparing candidates for examination by the American Board of Radiology. Prerequisite: One year of clinical residency training — i.e. Transitional Year, Preliminary Internal Medicine year, etc. CLN
SGRY 10 Resident in General Surgery (0). Five-year program preparing candidates for examination by the American Board of Surgery. CLN
SGRY 30 Resident in Orthopedic Surgery (0). Five-year program preparing candidates for examination by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery. CLN
SPCP 25 Fellow with M.D. (0). Six months to three years educational experience. Upon completion of the experience, the individual is issued a certificate for the specific experience completed. Arrangements for the fellowship may be made through the appropriate departmental chair. CLN
SPCP 26 Fellow without M.D. (0). Six months to three years educational experience. Upon completion of the experience, the individual is issued a certificate for the specific experience completed. Arrangements for the fellowship may be made through the appropriate departmental chair. CLN
SPCP 50 Trainee, Non-Clinical/Wichita (0). A learning experience tailored to individual needs, personalized instructions, with potential for professional enhancement, opportunity to learn new skills and competencies, and exposure to new developments. Each individual must be endorsed by the chair of the department in Wichita. CLN
SPCP 55 Trainee, Clinical/Wichita (0). A learning experience tailored to individual needs, personalized instructions, with potential for professional enhancement, opportunity to learn new skills and competencies, and exposure to new developments.
